In January, we usually treat our customers to a special gift to thank them for the work we accomplished together over the past year. This year, however, we have decided to take the funds we would normally spend on New Year’s gifts and instead donate them to a good cause: SOS Children’s Villages. In this context, Ausy/DataFlow is supporting a project in Kinshasa (Democratic Republic of the Congo) where an SOS Children’s Village is being built to take in 150 orphans.

SOS Children’s Villages: a home and a future for every child.
Throughout the world, poverty, disease, natural disasters and armed conflicts are forcing more and more children to live without proper parental care. Every day, they have to fend for themselves…

SOS Children’s Villages, which has been active since 1949 and is now present in 132 countries, takes in vulnerable children and gives them a loving home with an SOS mother and brothers and sisters. SOS Children’s Villages is the world’s largest private humanitarian organisation for child relief and it operates a total of 531 SOS Children’s Villages where 78,000 children are given a home and a future.

Besides the children’s villages, which make up the organisation’s base structure, a strong emphasis is placed on prevention through the SOS family strengthening programmes which make every effort to provide children with an opportunity to grow up with their biological families. These programmes are directed at children, their families and communities and aim to provide disadvantaged families with the support they need to be able to give their children a stable home and once again live independently.

In the countries and territories where SOS Children’s Villages is active, schools and medical facilities are often either inaccessible or simply non-existent. Many SOS Children’s Villages have their own SOS schools and SOS medical centres which also serve children from the surrounding community, with priority being given to children from the most disadvantaged families.

Ausy/DataFlow believes that every child has the right to have a family
SOS Children’s Villages is currently building an SOS platform in Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Once completed, it will provide a home and a future to 150 orphans who will live in the SOS Children’s Village with an SOS mother and brothers and sisters. A total of 15 family homes will be built, in addition to a nursery school, a primary school and an SOS medical centre. Lastly, the SOS platform in Kinshasa will provide support to disadvantaged families in the surrounding area through family-strengthening programmes.
